Regional Leadership Development Programme Comes to Dominica

December 01 2015 - by

The Caribbean Leadership Project (CLP), funded by the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development (DFATD), and executed by the Canada School of Public Service, will convene the third workshop for Cohort 4 in its Leadership Development Programme (LDP) from May 11th to 15th, 2015. The upcoming workshop will be held at the Fort Young Hotel in Dominica.

On Monday, May 11th, 2015, the Government of Dominica will host a reception in honour of this cohort, which comprises 22 Deputy Permanent Secretaries and officers of comparable rank from 11 CARICOM countries and one regional organisation.

The theme for this workshop is Leading through Others. Against this background, participants will go on field trips in Dominica, to explore the challenges, successes and other contributing factors which have led to the formation of effective partnerships between:

  • The Financial Services Unit, Ministry of Finance, Dominica & The National Cooperative Credit Union (NCCU);
  • Invest Dominica Authority & The Dominica Manufactures Association;
  • The Dominica Youth Business Trust (DYBT) Youth Development Division & The Youth Business Entrepreneurs; and
  • Discover Dominica Authority (DDA) & The Dominica Hotel and Tourism Association (DHTA)

By participating in this Programme, participants are expected to advance regional integration and economic development by bringing practical learning to the workplace and developing a network of trusted colleagues during and beyond the Programme. Given the itinerant nature of the LDP, the next workshop will be held in Jamaica from June 29 to July 3, 2015.
